We reviewed this game as a group in our Games Design class and I thought I'd share our criticism.
Firstly, the game has a fitting theme and seems like it has potential.
That being said, there's a number of issues we highlighted: -The AI can sometimes struggle to pathfind to the player if there's boxes between the player and enemy.
-The pause menu is a slight confusing with there being no resume button but there being a play game button, it caused a few of us to accidentally reset.
-The UI needs more visual aspects rather than just numbers (like a red outline when low on health or maybe the ammo number glows red when low)
-The game is brutal, and idk if that is a design choice. I would guess this is intentional but the health packs are a bit too rare.
-More varieties of armour please
-The numbers in the game are not very clear what they do. Like what is "+2 defence"?
-You can melee objects through the corners of walls diagonally (like if there's two map squares with gaps on either side diagonally and there's a chest in one of the gaps, you can melee through it).
I hope this helps you in your future development. Thank you for the experience!
I think there are too many weapons powerups on the map I think it would make the game muách more fun if there were 4 chest per level or something to make them something I want insted of wow another gun I dont need.
TLDR: There are so many weapons that it seems it is mocking me
also please why do you need to have mouse sensitivity setting in a 2D game? It is annoying
I run around like a headless chicken without weapons, not knowing that I had to punch the creates. I know, there is a dialogue box at the beginning but people often skip tutorial text. My suggestion, lock the first exit, make a floating text above the first chest with a simple "Space" or "press Space" text and unlock the door once the player gets his first weapon.
what kinda childish response is this? Some people have dyslexia, some people have concentration/focus issue and can't focus on much text for too long/ miss important keywords. A textbox is simply not a good way to do tutorials, I did it a lot, never worked well.
Thanks for playing and thanks for the comment! Yeah I'm aware of some antiviruses not liking the engine, didn't know 64-bit versions were different! Can you tell me which antivirus are you using? I can also submit them a report to tell them it's a false positive, I've done it before for f-secure and it stopped flagging it
I really like the feel and look of this game. I also really like how the wide variety of weapons with different strengths, and the upgrade/ability things allow you to sort of make your own class to fit your playstyle. I think this game would also be great if it had online co-op, or maybe LAN so you can play with your friends. Also maybe a bit of a story, like a background on the character, maybe about the enemies and who/what they are. Such a great game though. :)
Thanks for the comment and the feedback! The game was actually built with online co-op in mind but we didn't have enough time to get it working properly during the 7 days. Hoping to get back to it soon enough!
this was a cool game! love the many choices of guns and the rpg element, shoot was pretty cool. i'd would suggest to spice it up by having some sound....action type sound (royalty free of course), create a story in the game and learn about the character. Great Job!!!
I really enjoy this game. The Difficulty is just right. Guns are fun to use and pretty balanced. The furthest I've gotten so far is level six. One thing though, when you're in the game and you pause, there's a button to start the game. I clicked that the first time because I thought that'd resume the game. You might wanna change that so it resumes the game instead of restarting it. You also might wanna add a save feature.

And maybe you should read more than just one phrase. :)
srry
And maybe you should read the tutorial.

Oh, I'm sorry for giving you the same response you gave someone else.
It's like DoomRL without RL part ;)
Very atmospheric, very polished, also very addictive.

Just a great game. Loved the atmosphere and the music. The random level generation is really interesting. Overall a fun experience.
Thanks for playing and thanks for the video! Now I know that the snow/fog effect doesn't work properly on ultrawide monitors :p
Great game - the random level generation is amazing and the mix of weapons adds huge variation to each play-through :)
Thanks a lot!

Thanks! Yes there's some UX mistakes with the menus, we'll probably address them with updates :)
SO much fun! This game feels so great to play, and is a pretty genuine challenge. Only got to level 8 so far, gonna try and get further >:)
